Who You Are Paying

Sponsometer is a platform where you sponsor a participant in an event, and the money goes to the charity named on the event page. The charity is the recipient of your donation: your card is charged on the charity's own Stripe account, and the money never passes through a Sponsometer account. INGERSLEV.IO ApS runs the platform, triggers the charge on the charity's behalf after the event, and is your first point of contact if anything goes wrong.

How Donations Work

You sponsor with a rate per unit (per kilometre, per hour or per round, depending on the event) or with a fixed amount, and you set a maximum amount. The maximum is prefilled as the event's target plus ten percent, and you can change it freely.

When you pledge, you save your card with Stripe and agree to the wording shown above the "Save card" button. Nothing is reserved or charged at that point. You receive a confirmation email with your pledge and your maximum, which also tells you how a charge will appear on your card statement.

After the event, the donation is calculated from the result actually achieved: your rate multiplied by the result, but never more than your maximum. For a fixed amount, the amount you chose is charged. You are never charged more than your maximum.

Before a per-unit donation is charged, we email you the exact amount. The charge is made no earlier than 48 hours after that email, so you have time to object. A fixed amount was known when you pledged, so it may be charged after the event without a further notice.

If the result is zero, nothing is charged. If the event is cancelled, nothing is charged and your saved card is released.

Cancelling a Pledge

You can cancel your pledge at any time before it has been charged: from the event page while the event is open for pledges, or through the link in the email that tells you the final amount. Nothing is charged after you cancel.

No Right of Withdrawal for Completed Donations

Once a donation has been charged, it is final. There is no right of withdrawal (Danish: fortrydelsesret) for completed donations.

This is because:

  • The donation is a voluntary pledge made in connection with a charitable or sporting event.
  • Under the Danish Consumer Contracts Act (Forbrugeraftaleloven § 18, stk. 2, nr. 12), the right of withdrawal does not apply to services in connection with leisure activities where the contract fixes the date or period of performance.
  • The money goes to the charity named on the event page.

If you believe a charge has been made in error, please contact us at emil@ingerslev.io and we will investigate together with the charity. A refund, where one is due, is returned to the card that was charged.

Public Donation Record

When you pledge, your message is published on the event page, and so is your sponsor name unless you switched that off; then you appear as "Anonymous". By submitting a pledge, you acknowledge that:

  • Your message, your rate and the amount your pledge reaches are visible to anyone viewing the event page, and so is your name unless you switched that off.
  • Once a donation has been charged, the record is part of the event's financial ledger and is kept for at least 5 years, as the Danish Bookkeeping Act requires. You can ask us to stop showing your name at any time.
  • Your email address and card details are never shared publicly.

Currency and Fees

All amounts are in Danish Krone (DKK). You are never charged more than the donation amount you agreed to — there are no surcharges added at checkout, and the payment provider's own fee is never added to your donation.

Two deductions are made before the money reaches the charity, both on the charity's side:

  • Sponsometer's platform fee. The standard rate is 8% of the donation, VAT included; the rate is agreed with each organisation, so an organisation may have been given a different one. It is withheld automatically when the card is charged.
  • Stripe's card fee. Stripe, the payment provider, charges the charity's account for processing the card. For a Danish card this is 1.5% plus DKK 1.80 per charge by Stripe's published pricing, checked in September 2026; other cards cost more.

So on a DKK 250 donation with a Danish card at the standard rate, roughly DKK 224 reaches the charity. Before you confirm, the pledge form shows what approximately reaches the charity from your own donation.

Complaints

If something has gone wrong with a donation, write to us first at emil@ingerslev.io and we will look into it.

The Danish consumer complaint system only handles complaints where the price of the item or service is at least DKK 1,220, which is more than most donations — so for a typical donation, writing to us is the route that applies. Above that amount, and if we cannot find a solution together, you can take the complaint to Mæglingsteamet for Forbrugerklager, which mediates, and Forbrugerklagenævnet, which decides the case if mediation does not resolve it.

  • Complaint portal: kpo.naevneneshus.dk
  • Address: Nævnenes Hus, Toldboden 2, 8800 Viborg, Denmark
  • Fees and limits, as stated by Nævnenes Hus: mediation costs a fee of DKK 100, which is not refunded. Taking the case on to Forbrugerklagenævnet costs a further DKK 400, which is refunded if you win. The price of the item or service complained about must be at least DKK 1,220 and at most DKK 100,000.

The European Commission's online dispute resolution (ODR) platform was discontinued on 20 July 2025 under Regulation (EU) 2024/3228, so there is no longer an EU platform to complain through. The Commission instead publishes a list of dispute resolution bodies in the EU, Norway and Iceland.
